After the stimulation of the hormones starts to fall, they need another cigarette to bring them back into the comfort zone. If they do not get that cigarette, the craving begins and the cigarette smoker may feel anxious and cranky. Because of the withdrawal symptoms, this makes quitting smoking very difficult. If you have tried to quit smoking, you know how tough it can be. It is tough because nicotine is a very addictive drug and can be as addictive as heroin or cocaine.

Many people have found that including physical activity in their program to quit smoking has added a tremendous benefit to assist in quitting. There are many reasons why exercise can help you quit smoking. When you are more active, you will gain confidence and like self-esteem will build. You will feel more energy, and you are more capable of dealing with stress in your life. With increased activity, the smell of tobacco actually becomes offensive. Whenever you feel the need to smoke after you have decided to quit, get up and move around instead. A brief physical activity can provide you with the lift that you may have received from nicotine.

    Lectures and advice only go so far. Addictions are such a subject I think we have only begun to understand. The addict is told a million times their addiction is wrong they know this. But the chemical connection the power of the mind is immense.
